INTRODUCTION
The W.E.N. Ministries is an outreach of our 1 st Lady Minister Jessie L. Priester. The objective is to build women’s of Purpose, Power & Praise.
Philosophy of Ministering To Women’s
Throughout the pages of the Bible, it is clear that in every dispensation there is a definite responsibility that the female has in the plan of God. From Genesis to Revelation, we can see the mentoring relationships that bless the causes of the kingdom of God from Ruth to Naomi. The specific goals of a women’s ministry is based on the particular vision of the Senior Pastor & 1 st Lady Minister Jessie L. Priester.
It is proven that women need quality time with other women for their growth and development. In the secular world, we can see that women have a need for fellowship and unity. It is not unusual to see women meet together for non-spiritual activities and make sincere commitments to those organizations. It is possibly in this area that the local church has not been most effective. Most women’s group meetings are boring and irrelevant, with an uninspiring agenda that causes women to stay away in droves.
So the first step in developing a women’s ministry is to identify and document the general assignment of your church ministry.
Every other ministry in the local church should simply be a more detailed specific function of the general ministry’s assignment. We must keep in mind that this ministry needs an agenda that will attract women and that will provide relevant ministry to the women of a congregation.
There are various approaches to women’s ministry, none incorrect, but a different emphasis, tailored to the leadership’s vision assignment.
The Teaching Women’s Ministry
Just as the name implies, this ministry will center on teaching spiritual concepts and doctrines for the development of Christian womanhood. These ministries are notable for programmed study lessons with time for discussion lessons and, often times, homework.
The Fellowship Women’s Ministry
The Fellowship Women’s Group will not stress teaching as much as the unity component of a woman’s need. During these types of meetings, there may be some teaching, but not as the mainstay of the group’s objective. You will often see these types of group’s objective. You will often see these types of groups in a church that have a major teaching format, however, this women’s group is seen primarily as an opportunity for fellowship.
The Service Women’s Ministry
This type of women’s ministry is one that is heavily involved in serving either the church, the community, or both. Normally its meetings are times for strategizing timers and mobilizing for some service event. It is not unusual for these types of women’s ministries to be involved in assisting the elderly saints in the church with the maintenance of their homes, their cars, and other things. In addition to in house service, you will often see this type of ministry involved in food pantries, ministry to the homeless, and other such service.
The Evangelist Women’s Ministry
This type of women’s group will focus on winning the lost to the kingdom of God. The meeting’s theme will often be centered on soul winning, while the teaching is more of a training regiment. Of course, the exciting element about this ministry is the in-the-field work (ministry) that the members love to do. In addition to one-on-one evangelism, this type of ministry will engage in events such as street crusades to get the message of Jesus to as many as possible in its general area, but also on the mission fields of the world. In a more sophisticated approach to reaching the lost, many of these women’s group will encourage other women to start workplace bible study groups and other opportunities to reach out.
The All-Purpose Women’s Ministry
The All-Purpose category is, as the name implies, the type of women’s ministry in the local church whose agenda is made up of several of the aforementioned areas. There is no specific long term commitment to any of our wonderful objectives, but the women will be encouraged throughout the year, based on the church’s mission, to be involved in a particular goal at a time. This does not mean that this type of ministry will not be effective; it simply saying that women in this type of women’s ministry will have general exposure to many aspects rather than just one specific thing.
The downside is that because there is no-long term focus on a single objective, it will take the women a longer period to reach a level of mastery.
You may start at one level of emphasis and in time move to another, based on the church’s or the community’s needs. Above all, the important part of the process is to develop the church’s mission statement and allow the women’s ministry to become a support vehicle of the vision.
Promise Land Women of Virtue Mission Statement
Part II
Through the teaching of spiritual principles of Faith, Integrity, Righteousness, and Excellence, we will build a fraternity of women of compelling character. Through living examples of excellence, we can inspire women to lovingly help lead their families in a deeper life commitment to God. Through training seminars, retreats and workshops, we can equip women for leadership as they overcome life challenges to live productive lives that will make an undeniable difference on the earth.
This will be done by inspiring every woman to serve God and advance the kingdom of God through service opportunities in the local church. Finally, we aim to build a loyal covenant fraternity of Christian women’s who display a level of unity and that is a powerfully influential witness to the world.
